1. New England Patriots

No one wants to see the rich get richer, but the New England Patriots are actually a team that could really use a guy like Gerald McCoy. The Patriots lost star defensive lineman Trey Flowers in free agency, watching him reunite with Matt Patricia in Detroit, and have worked to fill that void all offseason.

Michael Bennett came over in a trade to help fill that void, and the Pats just re-signed Danny Shelton on Monday to add more depth to their defensive front. Shelton is currently slated to team with Lawrence Guy and Mike Pennel on the interior, but McCoy would be a significant upgrade over the latter duo.

McCoy would be an incredible weapon for Bill Belichick to utilize in his defense, allowing him to deploy players like Bennett all over the line to make life miserable for opposing offensive coordinators. The Patriots are also a destination for players looking to win titles, and that could appeal heavily to McCoy, who went through a lot of losing in Tampa Bay.

The issue here could be if McCoy decides he wants to get paid, but a lot of players opt to leave money on the table for a chance to win a ring in Foxboro. Don’t be shocked if McCoy ends up playing his home games at Gillette Stadium this fall, which would be a terrifying prospect for AFC contenders hoping to take down the defending champions.
