5 offseason needs for the Brooklyn Nets
1. Call Kevin Durant
You knew this was coming. Kevin Durant is no doubt the most coveted free agent in this year’s class. No matter where he ends up, Durant will be able to transform that team into an immediate championship contender. While there is still a possibility that Durant could stay in Golden State, it seems highly unlikely that he will do so. It appears that Durant is ready to move on, and try to bring a championship to another team.
Perhaps the best player in the league, Durant will take the Nets to a whole other level. Even if the Nets were only able to sign Durant and no other free agents, they would still be one of the best teams in the league. However, being one of the best teams in the league is not good enough if you have potentially the best player in the league on your team.
Because it is starting to seem more and more likely that Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant are going to be a package deal, if the Nets can land both, they would be the top contenders in the East next season. With the Nets’ main competition probably being the New York Knicks for the services of both Irving and Durant, they can almost offer them the same exact thing. There is no difference in the city as both teams play in the city that never sleeps.
There is no doubt that Durant will take a meeting with the Nets this offseason, and the Nets should do all they can to bring both him and Irving to the city of Brooklyn. Imagine a lineup of: Irving, Harris, Levert, Durant, and Allen? The Nets could literally be the 2020 NBA Champions. Durant and Irving to Brooklyn makes a lot of sense, and there is a chance it could happen.
