As he attempts to get his NFL career on the right track, Redskins linebacker Reuben Foster appears to have suffered a serious knee injury.
As NFL teams go through OTAS and minicamps in May and June, avoidance of major injuries is a significant layer for all involved. But Monday morning at Washington Redskins OTAs, on the second play of practice according to Rhiannon Walker of The Athletic, linebacker Reuben Foster went down with what looked like a sever left knee injury.
Foster immediately grabbed list knee and screamed out in pain. He was carted off the field with his leg in air cast, which points to his 2019 season being over before it even started.
Foster was claimed off waivers by the Redskins last season, as the San Francisco 49ers let him go after a second domestic violence charge in roughly a year’s time. He did not suit up for Washington last season, as he was placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, but the most recent charges were dropped and Foster was not punished any further beyond being fined two game checks.
JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington had an account of the scene surrounding Foster’s injury.

Foster is still just 25 years old, with at least theoretically a bright future in the NFL to be had if he can put off-field stuff behind him for good. But it’s now possible (if not likely) he never plays a game for the Redskins, and looking beyond this season there will be a significant injury question to go with anything else.
