Welcome to this Daily Fantasy Golf piece from FantasyCPR.com. Here you will find players to target on FanDuel, for this weeks Charles Schwab Challenge, taking place at Colonial Country Club, just outside of Fort Worth, Texas.

In this article, I will present to you some picks to consider from each price tier for Daily Fantasy Golf on FanDuel. Some plays will be geared toward cash games, and some for GPP tournaments. Some of course will also technically qualify as both. As we break each play down, I will be sure to specify which type of contests I am targeting that player in.

I will give two players to target from $11K up to the top salary, two targets from the $10K-$11K range, and two from the $9-10K range. After that will come my top value plays from the $8-9K range, along with a couple of GPP flyers to consider for tournament play. Last but certainly not least, I will end the article the ever popular sample lineup we like to do here at FantasyCPR.

I used to give a quick recap here from the previous week, but with MLB in full go, I am forced to scrap that portion of this article in an attempt to shorten things up. If you are ever curious as to how things worked out, my picks along with the other top experts in the field are tracked at Daily Overlay.

Daily Fantasy Golf: FanDuel PGA – Top Tier Picks: ($11,000+)

Justin Rose – $12,200 – (GPP)

There is plenty to like about Rose this week, and I am hoping the fact that he is the highest priced golfer in the field will keep his ownership down in GPP’s, but I doubt it. Rose is the best golfer in this field when it comes to the world rankings, and when you couple that with the fact that he won here last year, he becomes a really tough fade for me.

The form could be better for the third ranked player in the world, but it still isn’t bad. Rose was only able to manage a T-29 at the PGA Championship, and although he missed the cut at the Masters last month, he has a win at the Farmers Insurance Open back in February. He also added two additional top-tens at the Players Championship with a T-8 finish, and more recently at the Wells Fargo Championship with a solo third place finish. He won’t be my highest owned player, but I will have a few shares.

Jon Rahm – $12,000 – (Cash)

I will talk more about it on the last page, but what was a normal easy cash every week for the sample lineup week in and out, slowly morphed into a rough stretch here basically since the Masters. I realized my approach was different, and for the most part, I was going more balanced. I am throwing that out the window this week, and making sure I anchor my cash team with my pick to win this week, Jon Rahm.

Rahm can crush this course, as he has proven in his only two Colonial events over the last two years. He shot 9-under in 2017, good for a T-2 finish, and 10-under last year, which led to a T-5. He missed the cut at the PGA Championship last week, and my guess is that will not sit well for a competitor like Rahm. Prior to the missed cut, Rahm T-6 at the Valspar Championship, and T-9 at the Masters. I will be heavy on Rahm on all sites in all formats this week. Hopefully he goes full Koepka on the thing.

Daily Fantasy Golf: FanDuel PGA – Mid Tier Picks ($10,000-$11,000)

Paul Casey – $10,900 – (Cash/GPP)

It has been up-and-down for the last couple of months for Casey, and he has burned me here a couple of times in that span. After swearing off of him for a few weeks, Casey has played well enough now the last couple times out to garner my attention once again, as he has been a firm no from me since he sank most of Masters teams just over a month ago.

Casey T-29th last week at Bethpage. Whether he is back in form or not, after a T-4 at the Wells Fargo Championship prior to that, I think I have to pounce at this price. Although he has had his struggles, he is still one of the best players in the world, and I do not think it will take much for him to play well here. This course fits his game, and I think he will be back to being a popular play this week.

Kevin Kisner – $10,500 – (Cash)

My hope is that everyone concludes this price is too high for Kisner this week, but it seems unlikely at this point. Both Kisner and Jason Kokrak have similar price points and are having similar success as of late, but Colonial is a perfect fit for my pick here . We have had about six straight weeks of playing bombers, and I think this is finally the week Kokrak struggles.

His history here is bad, and his game does not fit well here. Kisner on the other hand has won here, and has two additional top-tens in the last four years as well.

I really think Rahm will win this week, but if Kisner can putt well, I fully expect another top-ten. I just started making some lineups, and the price point on Kisner is really working out with the rest of my plays. When I combine that fact with the fact I have more confidence in Kisner than most this week, he will probably end up my highest owned play across the board.

***Also Consider: Rory Sabbatini $10,200 – Matthew Fitzpatrick $10,000***

FORT WORTH, TX – MAY 24: Scott Piercy plays a shot from a bunker on the 11th hole during round one of the Fort Worth Invitational at Colonial Country Club on May 24, 2018 in Fort Worth, Texas. (Photo by Tom Pennington/Getty Images) /

Daily Fantasy Golf: FanDuel PGA – Low Tier Picks ($9,000-$10,000)

Scott Piercy – $9,800 – (Cash)

2019 has been exceptionally well for the 40-year-old veteran Piercy, and normally I don’t do this, but if you go even further back a bit, he had a really good fall swing. That doesn’t mean much here in late May, but it does prove the point that he has been playing pretty solid for almost a year now.

He has missed just one cut, and although he didn’t finish well last week with a T-41 at the PGA Championship, the fact that he even made the cut at Bethpage is pretty impressive. It’s the run that he was on prior though that makes him a hair too cheap this week, and a solid cash play this week.

Piercy T-2 at the Byron Nelson as an encore to his T-3 at the RBC Heritage, and back-to-back top fives prior to a decent finish at a major championship is really impressive for a grinder like this. He has plenty of experience here at this event like a lot of these veterans do, and although he missed the cut last year, I am not letting that bother me too much. He was in very poor form at that time, which again speaks volumes about this comeback. In 2017, Piercy T-7 here at the then called Dean & DeLuca Invitational for his best finish here at Colonial Country Club.

Graeme McDowell – $9,500 – (GPP)

I have been teetering back and forth on how I want to play McDowell this weekend. I think his consistency in 2019 has been similar to the aforementioned targets, and as much as I want to deem him cash safe this week, I am on the fence. When you look below and see the guys to also consider in this price range, it seems much smarter to spend down to both. However, you could find yourself where you need a spot for all three. Let me justify that quick.

Jim Furyk and Russell Knox are a little riskier with their recent form in their last couple of respective events, and I think that is why they got the price dip. However, the style of golf that both play should play out well here. Knox has played Colonial for this event three times, and finished in the top-25 each time. Furyk’s recent history here isn’t as good, but he was able to T-4 back in 2012. Now to McDowell.

McDowell has played this event just once, tying for 29th back in 2017. He also put together a pretty solid week at Bethpage with another T-29, continuing his stretch of not missing a cut in 2019. After his win at the Corales Championship, he T-7 at the Valero Texas Open. He then struggled a bit at the RBC Heritage which led to a T-48, but his ability to crack the top 30 in last weeks field is what really sticks out. He has the precise type of game needed to excel here at Colonial, and while I think he safe in all formats, he could make a great low-owned GPP play.

Daily Fantasy Golf: FanDuel PGA – Top Value Picks: (Below $9,000)

Matt Jones – $8,800 – (Cash)

I almost missed not being able to roster him at the PGA Championship last week in all honesty. Jones has been in this article plenty over the last month or so, as the 39-year-old Aussie is yet another one of these reborn veterans playing lights out in 2019. He has missed just one cut, and that was way back at the Desert Classic. Since then, he has made the weekend in nine straight events, notching four top-20’s along the way. The T-5 in his last action at the RBC Heritage was his best finish on the PGA Tour since 2015.

More from FanSided

Colonial has been somewhat of a challenge over the years for Jones, but he obviously comes here in much better form than he has in quite some time. In six tries in this event in the last ten years, Jones has missed three cuts. His best finish was a T-13 in 2010, and last time out he finished T-63, which was two years ago. I wish his history was better here, but I do not think this is the place where he finally misses a cut on this current run he is on. I am likely playing him in cash to ensure a spot for Jon Rahm in my lineup.

Danny Lee – $8,700 – (GPP)

Always a gamble, Danny Lee surprisingly caught my attention this week in my dig for value. I will have to admit, I am surprised he is still here myself, as I started with 22 total golfers this week before narrowing down to 16. The history here at Colonial is too good to ignore, and he is playing some pretty solid golf, despite dealing with ongoing back troubles.

So there in lies the risk. I am a little worried since he has not played back-to-back weeks since the Players and the Valspar, but truthfully in major season a lot of others do not as well. His back did not seem to bother him at Bethpage, as he was able to make the weekend and post a decent T-36 finish. Consistency has been a problem however, and a bad back can lead to a withdrawal at any time, so while there is significant risk, there could also be significant reward at this salary.

Lee has missed the cut in almost half of the events he has teed it up in 2019, but playing here at Colonial has been a different story. Lee has made the cut here in each of the last five years, showing more consistency on this course than anywhere else in his career. His worst finish was a T-38 back in 2014, and he has notched two top-tens since then in 2015 and 2017.

The solo sixth in 2017 was his best finish, and he almost cracked the top-ten again last year, finishing 7-under par and in a tie for 14th. This is one of the more risky cheap course horse plays that I can remember in some time, and I will have some Danny Lee exposure in GPP play this week.

***Bonus GPP Flyer: Vaughn Taylor – $8,200***

Daily Fantasy Golf: FanDuel PGA – The 2019 Charles Schwab Challenge – Sample Cash Lineup:

The line-up below is meant to be illustrative only to further back-up the logic laid out in previous slides. It is not an optimal line-up. It is in fact, just a “Sample Lineup.”

G – Jon Rahm – $12,000
G – Kevin Kisner – $10,500
G – Rory Sabbatini – $10,200
G – Graeme McDowell – $9,500
G – Jim Furyk – $9,000
G – Matt Jones – $8,800

I had been trying to go balanced for the last couple of weeks here for cash, but it is not working. Two or three missed cuts of guys that are “sure things” (like Bubba last week at $9,700) do not make sense to roster if you feel confident enough in some guys in the value range to make the cut.

Matt Jones will likely be pretty low owned in cash, and guys like Scott Piercy, and possibly Kevin Na should all be fairly popular in these contests. I personally think Rahm wins this week, and I have utmost confidence that the lineup above can go 6/6 or I wouldn’t post it. We just never know how it will play out. Unless I change my mind again before lock, Rahm will anchor my cash lineup.
