Juwan Howard is coming back to his former school to take over the head coaching duties at Michigan. Twitter, in kind, went insane.

It always seemed like Juwan Howard was destined to be a head coach someday.

We just didn’t know it would be a back at his alma mater.

Instead of taking a coach that was more experienced in coaching college kids, Michigan instead went the route of the Fab Five and inked Howard to a five-year deal to the be the Wolverines new head coach. It is quite an understatement to say that Howard has some big shoes to fill.

Under former head coach Joh Beilein, Michigan has made nine NCAA Tournament appearances in his 12 seasons in Ann Arbor, including two Final Four appearances.

Howard will be under pressure to continue the recruiting and success that the school has come to expect, and there are real questions as to whether or not Howard can achieve this, given that he’s never coached a game on the college level.

That may not matter to Wolverine fans, who as soon as the coaching hire was announced, took to Twitter to give their two cents. Here are the best of the bunch.

(Trust me, if this happens, I will book my tickets to Ann Arbor and will be at the first game. Believe that.)

(His Cabbage Patch has always been elite. I’ve always been a bit jealous at Howard for that.)

(My God, I come before you to beg of you that this becomes a reality.)

(Oh wow, I didn’t think of it like that. With Howard as the head coach, he could very well have an inside lead on getting Bronny James and Zaire Wade to come and play for Michigan. A new Fab Five in the works?)
