NASCAR DFS Pit Stop: Alsco 300 – Xfinity Series from Charlotte
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NASCAR DFS Pit Stop for Saturday’s Xfinity Series race from Charlotte Motor Speedway! After 3 weeks away, the Xfinity Series is finally back at the track this week with a nice 300 mile race from Charlotte. We have 200 laps to accrue points this week, which is one of the highest lap totals the Xfinity Series runs all season.
This week we get one “invader” in Austin Dillon in the #10 Kaulig Chevy, but that is it for this race. Pricing this week is a little bit tougher with 4 drivers ahead of Dillon priced between $10,500 -$11,400 (Tyler Reddick is the top NASCAR DFS priced driver).
Tyler Reddick leads the points standings by 23 points over 2nd place Christopher Bell and looks to add to his lead with a great run Saturday afternoon. Cole Custer, who is third in the point standings, hopes to have something to say about that when he looks to win for a third time this season.
NASCAR DFS – Leaders of the Pack
Tyler Reddick ($11,400)
2019 Avg Finish: 4.7
Reddick is the most expensive driver this week, but he also has the fastest car in the field this week. After final practice Reddick was the fastest single lap car and had the best 10 lap average (run from lap 31 -40 of 52 laps run). Even if Reddick qualifies on the pole, I think he is still my favorite option and could lead over 100 laps as well Saturday.
Austin Dillon ($10,200)
2019 Avg Finish: 4th
Dillon also looked fast in practice on Thursday and if I feel like I need to savings I am very comfortable coming off Reddick to Dillon. In final practice Dillon ran a top 5 lap as well as the 6th fastest 10 lap average (laps 22-31 of 39).
Back in March in Vegas Dillon qualified 31st but finished 4th in his only Xfinity series race this season. Dillon is one the most experienced drivers in the field and has run exceptionally well here. In 10 Xfinity Charlotte races Dillon has 2 wins and 6 top 5’s with an average finishing position of 5.8.
John Hunter Nemechek ($9,900)
2019 Avg Finish: 10.2
Nemechek was better in first practice, but still was fast in final practice finishing with a 14th best single lap and 12th best 10 lap average. While Nemechek has never raced at Charlotte, he has fared well in similar 1.5 mile tracks in his short career.
In 14 races at 1.5 mile tracks Nemechek has 1 win and 12 top tens and also has a 7.4 averaging finishing position. Nemechek also comes in riding a 5 race streak of top 10 finishes.
Other Options: As always both Christopher Bell ($10,800) and Cole Custer ($10,500) are in play Saturday as well.
NASCAR DFS – Middle of the Pack
Ryan Sieg ($9,200)
2019 Avg Finish: 9.6
While I think I can fit in 3 top salary drivers this week because of the low tier depth there is some great mid tier drivers to consider and Sieg might be the best of the bunch. Sieg has finished no worse than 16th this season in 10 races and has 5 top 10’s.
In final practice Sieg had a top 10 single lap car, but he was 5th in 10 lap average. I like his speed this weekend and consistency, even though is price is the highest it’s been this year, he is still playable at this price.
Noah Gragson ($8,200)
2019 Avg Finish: 12th
Gragson has been in a bit of a slump lately with only 1 top 10 in his last 5 races, but he does have 3 top 15 finishes. Even though his #9 JR Motorsports Chevy looks fast in practice, I will prefer to wait and see where he qualifies before I consider rostering Gragson. I think if Gragson starts outside P15, he is a great play.
Other Options: Brandon Jones ($8,800), Brandon Brown ($7,600)
NASCAR DFS – Back of the Pack
Jeb Burton ($6,800)
2019 Avg Finish: 5th
For this price Burton seems like a lock for my lineups this weekend. Burton has run 3 races at Charlotte in his Xfinity series career with an average finish of 14.3. Burton ran his only race in Texas this season and came home with a 5th place finish, and in his 14 1.5 mile track races Burton has 3 top 10’s as well.
Josh Williams ($6,200)
2019 Avg Finish: 20.4
Williams is a great play for the pure fact he finishes races and usually betters his starting position. All we are really looking for at this price point is 20-30 points and Williams is possibly the best driver for that.
In his last 4 races Williams has an average of 36.75 DKFP and an average finishing position of 15.75. His team has seemingly found something that is working for them and hopefully it continues this week.
Dillon Bassett ($4,900)
2019 Avg Finish: 15th
Bassett is my salary play this week but he could actually be a key component to a take down. In his only career race (this season at Richmond) Bassett came home with a 15th place finish after starting 33rd. Bassett has a pretty fast car that had him run a top 15 ten lap average in the final practice.
