NBA Twitter explodes over Raptors making first-ever Finals appearance
By Kareem Gantt
The Toronto Raptors are going to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history, and Twitter went absolutely bananas.
For the entire season, the Toronto Raptors were always one of the favorites to get out of the Eastern Conference.
Now, it’s a reality.
By storming back from a 15-point deficit in the third quarter, the Raptors shook loose of the tightness that had shackled them for most of the game and showed the rest of the NBA that they have the mentality to be NBA Champions.
Toronto was pretty lit before tipoff, and this city will be partying all night long now that the Raptors have punched their ticket to the Finals. Awaiting them will be the two-time defending champion Golden State Warriors, who steamed rolled through the West (once again) and will be a tough matchup for Toronto.
This team is up for the challenge, however, and while fans in the Bay Area may think that the Raptors will be pushovers on their way to a historic three-peat, I’m not so sure it will be as easy as it will sound.
But, that’s a topic for tomorrow. Now, we’re going to give you the best Twitter had to offer when the final horn sounded, and the Toronto Raptors became the kings of the East.
(In all honesty, why should we even continue to take stock in what Stephen A. Smith predicts anymore?)
(Toronto has one of the best fanbases in the NBA. Toronto has always loved its Raptors, and now folks from around the world will see that love and devotion on full display.)
Now, let’s check out some tweets from the loser’s side, shall we?
(Really? You’re just going to quit social media like that? Come on, we need you to be here to talk junk about the Raptors when they get swept by the Warriors!)
See you in the NBA Finals!
