Fantasy Baseball: What the June amateur draft could feature
J.J. Bleday, Outfielder, Vanderbilt
Bleday is a good all-around hitter from a program that has churned out major leaguers such as David Price and Walker Buehler in recent years. He has the ability to hit for average and has a power stroke to all fields. Bleday also has a excellent arm that should allow him to stick in right as well as hit in the middle of the order for whichever team drafts him. He should come off the board shortly after the top 4 picks.
Riley Greene, Outfielder, Hagerty High (Florida)
Greene is a left-handed hitter who is currently more of a line drive, gap-to-gap hitter who should add more power as he gets older and stronger. He’s a good athlete who doesn’t have the strongest arm, so that means left could be his future position.
Nick Lodolo, Pitcher, Texas Christian University
Lodolo was originally drafted out of high school by the Pittsburgh Pirates with the 41st overall pick. Lodolo will most likely be the first college pitcher drafted this year. He is a 6-foot-6 185-pound left-handed pitcher who slings his fastball between 93 and 96 mph. If he could gain better command of his secondary pitches then he has a chance to be a top of the rotation starting pitcher for years to come.
