It’s a make-or-break season for USC football coach Clay Helton. Will the Trojans schedule set up nicely for him to keep his job or are more losses coming?

USC football coach Clay Helton is coaching for his job. The man who won double-digit games in 2016 and 2017 that saw a Rose Bowl berth and a Pac-12 title could be out if the Trojans don’t win the Pac-12 this year.

It’s hard to believe anyone anticipated USC missing a bowl game and going 5-7 last year. That’s the kind of step back that places a coach on the hot seat. Plus, considering the fact that the Trojans probably feel they can attract a top coaching talent if they want at a moment’s notice, Helton’s on the hottest seat in the country

The good news is J.T. Daniels got a year of experience as a true freshman. He wasn’t exactly Sam Darnold but he has the potential to turn things around if he lives up to his top-recruit potential.

USC thought it was going to have Kliff Kingsbury coaching Daniels this season but he left before he even got comfortable to take the head coaching job of the Arizona Cardinals. The Trojans did bring in another former Texas Tech quarterback, however, naming Graham Harrell to the same position.

Will Harrell be able to bring out the best in Daniels? Will Helton be able to win enough games to challenge for the Pac-12 crown? Will he be fired mid-season? The answers can be found by predicting each USC football game this year.
