Week-by-week Predictions

Game 1: vs. Eastern Washington

The first game of the Huskies’ 2019 season comes at home against Eastern Washington. While Eastern Washington has long been a great FCS program and should give the Huskies a fight early, Washington should take this one late as Jacob Eason continues to find his footing.

Result: Win

Game 2: vs. California

September football can be weird at times and a terrible indicator for what to expect the rest of the way. Justin Wilcox and Cal would love to upset the Huskies a second year in a row as they try to put themselves in the Pac-12 North discussion. This is a sneaky good game on the schedule early for diehard Pac-12 football fans. This will be low scoring and Washington will squeak one out avenging their loss last season.

Result: Win

Game 3: vs. Hawaii

By the third game and having three-straight at home, Washington should be clicking on all cylinders. Look for Washington to pick up a blowout win here and show some muscle as they prepare for their first road tilt.

Result: Win

Game 4: at BYU

The first road test is a trip to Provo. This could be a tough game on the road as BYU has made a living off early upsets on the schedule. Chris Petersen will have his program ready to play and they should be able to avoid an upset.

Result: Win

Game 5: vs. USC

This is an interesting game. It’s a marquee Pac-12 battle. However, a lot is at play here. Which USC team shows up? Will a J.T. Daniels-Jacob Eason battle live up to the hype? Washington playing this at home should give them the advantage, especially if the Trojans are still working things out.

Result: Win

Game 6: at Stanford

This game could very well end up deciding the Pac-12 North. Washington at Stanford is always a big game considering the way these two programs have run the division. Stanford lost some key pieces to the draft just like Washington. Look for the Huskies’ defense to lock in a big road win.

Result: Win

Game 7: at Arizona

The first back-to-back road games of the schedule could prove to be where the Huskies finally falter. A trap game could be on hand in Tucson. With a vet like Khalil Tate at quarterback and Kevin Sumlin in his second season as coach, the Wildcats could spell the upset here. Washington wouldn’t be the first program to be nationally ranked and fall at Arizona.

Result: Loss

Game 8: vs. Oregon

After an upset loss to Arizona, the Huskies return home to take on Oregon. The Ducks with Justin Herbert at quarterback could be the favorites to win the North. The two played a classic last season that ended in overtime. Herbert pulls out another win and Oregon establishes itself as the team to beat in the division.

Result: Loss

Game 9: vs. Utah

A rematch of the Pac-12 Championship Game, the Huskies will face Utah. Both games last season should have gamblers pounding the under. This will be low scoring but Washington should get back on track at home.

Result: Win

Game 10: at Oregon State

The Oregon State Beavers have been the doormats of the Pac-12 for a while. They’re working their way back to relevance and they’re still a ways off from upset wins like this. Washington adds another one.

Result: Win

Game 11: at Colorado

Near the end of the season, Washington pays a visit to Mel Tucker’s squad. Colorado is a program in transition and the Huskies will be geared up heading into the Apple Cup. The Huskies can’t get caught looking ahead and they won’t.

Result: Win

Game 12: vs. Washington State

For as great as Mike Leach has made the Cougars, they have struggled against their bitter rivals. By this point in the season, the Huskies will have plenty of experience with their new quarterback and they’re at home. Expect another win for the Huskies in this battle.

Result: Win

Final Record: 10-2 (7-2 in the Pac-12)
