Another year, another new Call of Duty game. This time, Infinity Ward is going back to the roots with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare being official.

Is it safe to say that Call of Duty is finally back? We won’t get ahead of ourselves, but it sure does seem like it. After the game being teased for the past week, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be the next installment in the series.

With Infinity Ward developing this title, it only seems right the developers go back to what the fans have been wanting.

Over the years, the series has done quite a bit of experimenting. It started in 2014 with Advanced Warfare. This entry took a step away from the traditional style of game play, which is “boots on the ground.”

Developer Sledgehammer Games introduced Exo-Skeleton suits, which gave the players the ability to dash and jump really high.

The next two games in the series followed suit, but fans started getting restless. So, WWII and Black Ops 4 were a return to form. But, it seems fans still aren’t pleased.

Going back to the Modern Warfare series, which is arguably the greatest in Call of Duty, seems like a smart move. The question is whether Infinity Ward will deliver.

With Black Ops 4 not including a campaign mode, Modern Warfare will, which is good news. Those stories were some of the best in the series. If the developers can craft yet another captivating tale, it’ll definitely get fans back on board.

Other details from the YouTube description include an “online playground with classic multiplayer,” or the ability to “squad-up and play cooperatively in a collection of elite operations.”

Sounds like the return of classic gameplay and if it’s anything like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare or Modern Warfare 2, then we’re sold. Plus, Spec Ops was highly underrated and insanely fun, so that’s cool too.
