19. Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears

Prior to the 2018 season, Matt Nagy was hired as the new head coach of the Chicago Bears. Khalil Mack was later traded for, and the Bears were officially ready for takeoff.

One of the reasons Nagy was brought on board was because he was from the Andy Reid coaching tree. Couple that with a young quarterback, and you got an excited Bears team and fanbase.

Mitchell Trubisky was the young quarterback in that equation. He was drafted in 2017 when he was taken with the second-overall pick. Trading up for, and drafting, him at that spot was head scratching at the time, but Nagy helped make more sense of that selection in 2018

Trubisky was an overwhelmed, confused rookie quarterback his first year. With Nagy, he was a playmaker with confidence. He made the Pro Bowl after going 11-3 as a starter, helping the Bears to the playoffs and throwing for 3,223 yards and 24 touchdowns with 12 interceptions.

But it was a tale of two halves for Trubisky. From Week 1 to Week 7, he tossed 15 touchdowns with 1,814 yards and only six interceptions. He also ran for nearly 300 yards and two scores too.

After sustaining an injury, which probably affected him, Trubisky only had nine touchdown passes for 1,409 yards and six picks from Week 8 to Week 16, missing the Week 11 and 12 games.

Overall, Trubisky’s body of work was strong for a second-year player. However, he needs to limit the turnovers and be more consistent in 2019. Health and another year of experience will help him jump ranks as well.
