Will Year 2 for Jeremy Pruitt bring more wins to the Tennessee football team this year? Let’s go through the schedule to make game-by-game predictions.
In his first season at the helm of the Tennessee Volunteers, Jeremy Pruitt put up a respectable showing, even if the end result wasn’t all that impressive. The Vols may have ended the season with just a 5-7 overall record, a 2-6 SEC record and a rough loss at rival Vanderbilt, but there were still moments for the first-year head coach to hang his hat on as he tries to build his team coming into year two.
For starters. the Volunteers didn’t lie down while they faced a relatively loaded schedule. Tennessee played five teams that were ranked at the time that they faced them and wound up going 2-3 in those matchups, earning victories over Auburn on the road and Kentucky at home. Still, the hope is that the 2019 season means more sustained success for this team.
The good news for Knoxville faithful is that Pruitt clearly has this program heading in the right direction. Not only will this be an experienced group donning the orange in Neyland Stadium for the 2019 campaign, but a highly talented class of youngsters will join them last Pruitt netted the No. 12 recruiting class this year in 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.
Despite the experience on the roster, many of those newcomers could contribute to the Vols’ potential success in a new season as they look to take that step forward, the one that always seems hardest to complete. And it will be a difficult task to make a big leap in 2019 for the Jarrett Guarantano led Volunteers as they again face a tough schedule.
Having said that, Pruitt seems like the man for the job and could start to bring Tennessee football back to prominence. With that in mind, let’s take a look at Tennessee’s 2019 schedule and predict how they’ll fare each week.
