4. Drake

It takes quite a presence for you to be the subject of a news story featuring comment from NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. Give Drake credit for a fast and furious rise in the rankings, but it clearly comes from a place deep in his heart. You don’t get that into a team unless there’s a real connection and that’s obviously from being born and bred in Toronto.

Drake has made this whole rise of the Raptors thing very personal. This is not some act and it has been going on for a number of years, as FanSided’s Brendon Kleen noted last year: “But as a liaison to the culture for Toronto and the Raptors, Drake has been fantastic. He’s a hysterical, beautiful part of the NBA landscape now. Perhaps his best moment came earlier this year, in a broadcast that has now become famous, when he wore a shirt featuring analyst Doris Burke’s face printed largely upon it.

“Drake is not only the most famous Raps fan, he might be the biggest and best NBA fan overall. He is hosting this year’s NBA Awards Night and really seems to love the league. You could say his absorption into the world of basketball is giving it more life.”

That said, Drake’s really only been at this Super Fan thing for about three years, making him a relative nubby at all of this. You can’t just vault into the Top 3 without paying some dues. Just because you’re triple or even septuple platinum with your art doesn’t mean you get to pass by some serious OGs of the fan world.

You have to put in that work first. Plus, there’s that whole Washington Wizards fan thing that’s still a little too soon to forgive.
