Drake was bound to annoy at least one of the Warriors players enough to start a Finals beef — guess which one got baited.
Draymond Green and Drake were born to beef.
As demonstrated on Thursday night, Drake apparently ignored the NBA’s request that he tone down his courtside antics during the NBA Finals. The Toronto rapper used to be a kiss of death (and a bandwagon fan, but how quickly we’ve forgotten that), but now he’s the Raptors de facto mascot.
He was very visible throughout the Raptors comeback series win in the Eastern Conference Finals, going so far as to massage head coach Nick Nurse on multiple occasions. We all figured Drake would continue to ham it up and chew on background scenery in the Finals, and it was only a matter of time before someone got goaded into indulging him.
Leave it to Draymond Green to take the bait.
After the Raptors stormed to a Game 1 win on Thursday, both Green and Drake got into a heated discussion as the Warriors were leaving the court. Twitter lip readers seem to have settled on Drake calling Draymond ‘trash’, something that no one has confirmed yet.

Green addressed the incident after the game, at first balking at the idea of a Drake question being asked before kind of answering it.

Those are not words coming out of Draymond’s mouth. That’s the sound of Drake moving in his furniture as he sets up shop inside of the big man’s head for the rest of the NBA Finals. Whether or not it actually ends up playing a factor is yet to be seen.
It cannot be denied, however, that Drake has made forced himself into the Finals narrative to such a degree that he might actually end up being an X-Factor in the outcome of the series. So for all of us joking about him trying so hard to pretend like he’s on the team, Drake may end up with the last laugh.
