7. Bayley (c) vs. Sasha Banks in a 30-Minute Iron Woman match for the NXT Womenās Championship at NXT TakeOver: Respect
It would be the first time women would main event an NXT TakeOver event. It would be the first time women would compete in an Ironman, or in this case Iron Woman, match. After their cataclysmic clash at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, Sasha Banks and Bayley officially became the main event at NXT TakeOver: Respect in a history-making 30-minute Iron Woman match.
The question loomed: Could they pull it off?. What more could they give us that they hadnāt already shown at Respect? Turns out the two talented athletes had much more in their reserve tanks to showcase. The Iron Woman match told its own great story, with Banks looking for a measure of revenge from losing her title to Bayley at TakeOver: Brooklyn.
Because of this, a very aggressive side of Banks would emerge during the match. A poke to the eye while the refereeās back was turned would gain Banks the first fall. Sheād continue her rampage by throwing Bayley into the large video monitor at the entrance way, gaining a count-out in the process. Banks would fully embrace her heel persona by snatching superfan Izzyās āBayley Bowā from her head and making the little girl cry.
Bayley would rally back catching Banks by surprise and evening the score. As the time ticked on, it looked like a stalemate would occur and the match might go into overtime, but it would be Bayley causing Banks to quit at the last possible second for the win.
Because this was Banksā last match in NXT before she moved up to the Raw roster, the entire NXT locker room, including Stephanie McMahon, Triple H and fellow Four Horsewomen Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch came out on stage to send Banks on her way. It was an emotional moment that had Banks fall to her knees and her opponent, and real-life best friend, Bayley wiping tears from her eyes as the crowd chanted āthank you Sasha.ā A heartfelt send-off for an epic, history making match.
