5. Tyler Bate (c) vs. Pete Dunne for the WWE United Kingdom Championship at NXT TakeOver: Chicago

Pete Dunne vs. Tyler Bate had an impressive meeting for the WWE United Kingdon Championship at TakeOver: Chicago. And then late in 2017, on NXT TV on the WWE Network, they managed to put together another classic that warrants it being named one of NXT’s all-time best matches

This match gave you everything you want to see: physicality, brawling and crisp, athletic wrestling.

Bate was extremely impressive, showcasing his strength, agility and innovative offense including a beautiful corkscrew 450 off the top. Dunne returned with his smash-mouth style and manipulation of the joints in the hand. At one point in the contest, Dunne delivered a suplex into a powerbomb that would’ve put a lesser man down. Not Bate.

The match continued with Bate pulling out all the stops to retain his NXT UK Championship, but when he went to the well one too many times with a high dive to the floor, Dunne was waiting and sidestepped the move sending Bate crashing. Dunne capitalized and scored the win off the Bitter End to become the new NXT/WWE UK Champion.

This match was a masterpiece in execution. Bate and Dunne captivated the crowd and put on a performance that could rival some of the best matches of all time.
