The Toronto Raptors came out and established that they can more than hang with the Golden State Warriors, picking up a Game 1 win. Here’s how Twitter reacted.

Before Game 1 of the NBA Finals even tipped off, there were some who thought that the Toronto Raptors would be a mere speed bump to the powerful Golden State Warriors.

That thought has grown quite stale now, with the Raptors using their tenacious defense to bottle up the Warriors high-powered offense. It was a total team effort on Toronto’s part, with Pascal Siakam especially showing that there is no such thing as the “Game 1 jitters.” Siakam was the Game 1 hero but Toronto also got huge performances from Marc Gasol and Fred VanVleet as Kyle Lowry and Kawhi Leonard struggled to score.

Now, the Raptors have a 1-0 series lead on Golden State, and they have to like their chances of defending their home court before heading to the always loud, always tough Oracle Arena next week.

For Golden State, the Raptors performance caught them off guard somewhat. They knew the Raptors would be tough, but one has to believe they weren’t ready for Toronto’s defense to totally dominate the opener of what could be a legendary NBA Finals.

Now that Game 1 is in the books, we turn our attention to NBA Twitter, and let me tell ya, they had a field day. Here’s some of the best.

First, from Jurassic Park:

(Trust me, when the Drake memes start to fly, I’ll be ready!)

(Aw, come on now, don’t hate!)

Now let’s see what Dub Nation has to say about Game 1:

(I mean, he isn’t wrong about that. The Warriors have had an uncanny knack of playing their best basketball when everyone is throwing dirt on their grave.)

Calling Draymond Green “Trash” might not be the smartest idea but we’ll see how things shake out in Game 2.
