NBA Draft 2019: 5 targets for the Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls need point guard and wing help, two things they will have options for with the No. 7 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The Chicago Bulls were very bad last year, winning just 22 games in a year marred by the firing of coach Fred Hoiberg and the subsequent antics of interim-turned-current head coach Jim Boylen. But despite the messy season, the Bulls do have some promise. They have a primary initiator in Zach LaVine, a smooth shooting big man in Lauri Markkanen, and a promising young center in Wendell Carter Jr., and the team stabilized somewhat after trading for Otto Porter from Washington at the trade deadline. Those four players represent a decent core to build around, with Porter being the oldest player at 25, and all four having useful skill sets for the modern NBA.

In the 2019 NBA Draft, the Bulls will have a shot to add another solid core piece to that group. They have two obvious needs going into the draft – a point guard upgrade over Kris Dunn, and a wing that can help space the floor and prop up the Bulls’ suspect perimeter defense. Luckily, where the Bulls are drafting, both types of player should be available, especially if the draft shakes out a certain way. It’s a bad draft, and options for star talent are limited, but the Bulls should be good with whichever of these five players end up falling to them at 7.
