3. Jeff Teague, Minnesota Timberwolves

Teague is coming off an injury-riddled season for the Timberwolves (42 games), but he did average a career-high 8.2 assists per game. He made the no-brainer move to pick up his $19 million player option for next season, but the cap-strapped Wolves (with new president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas) would surely welcome the idea of unloading that money on someone.

A deal sending Teague to the Suns could be incredibly simple from a player-for-player perspective. Via Real GM’s Trade Machine, Josh Jackson can go to Minnesota and the trade works. Phoenix gets the veteran guard they want while unloading the underachieving Jackson, the No. 4 pick in 2017 who was also arrested for a minor offense in May. T.J. Warren also works in a player-for-player move, and he could very well be a more appealing player to the Timberwolves.

Minnesota could send their own lottery pick this year (No. 11) along with Teague in a deal with Phoenix. If it means getting out of Teague’s bloated salary, that “sweetener” is a worthy sacrifice.  And the Suns, with a lot of competition for at least one of the better veteran point guard options out there, might have to move toward considering Teague rather quickly.
