5 players the Phoenix Suns should trade the No. 6 pick for
2. Lonzo Ball, Los Angeles Lakers
As the Lakers consider breaking up their young core, Ball is likely to be available the Suns seem likely to be among the teams with serious interest.
The issues with Ball are two-fold. He has been hampered by injuries in each of his first two NBA seasons (65 games missed), and his clunky-looking jump shot has not really improved (40.6 percent from the floor, 32.9 percent from beyond the arc this past season).
If Los Angeles winds up trading Brandon Ingram in a separate deal, for Anthony Davis or someone else, they could replace him with Josh Jackson or T.J. Warren from the Suns in a trade for Ball. Phoenix would probably do it, if they couldn’t just offload Tyler Johnson with the sixth overall pick. The Lakers’ front office is a [picture of incompetence and dysfunction, so the Suns’ first offer for Ball should include Johnson.
Ball may benefit greatly from a change of scenery, just to get away from the Lakers with all that turmoil and excessive attention. The Suns, for once in their recent history, could find a buy-low opportunity.
