23. 1992-93 Chicago Bulls
By the last of the Bulls’ first three-peat, you could see the toll sustained excellence had taken on the Bulls. This group had the worst record and point differential of any of Jordan’s title-winning teams. With largely the same supporting cast, they were still a well-oiled machine you could see that they understood when they needed to save energy. but Jordan both missed some time, playing under 80 games for the first time in six seasons, and dramatically increasing his scoring, on his way to a seventh-consecutive scoring title.
In the playoffs, though, they turned the knob back to 11 and then broke the knob off.
Chicago swept through the first two rounds, before knocking off the Knicks, 4-2, in the Eastern Conference Finals and then the Suns, 4-2 to finish the three-peat. Jordan was exceptional along the way, dropping 54 on the Knicks in Game 4 and then hanging 55 on the Suns in the Finals just two weeks later. This was a team who was really competing more with history than with the very talented teams in front of them.
