When are the Tonys? Find out the date, time and TV channel where you can watch the 2019 Tony Awards ceremony from New York City.
When are the 2019 Tonys? It’s time for this year’s Tony Awards, recognizing the best and brightest on the Broadway theater scene, and fans of the stage are eagerly waiting to find out who wins the trophies.
Luckily, not much has changed from last year’s ceremony. The 73rd Tony Awards will take place on Sunday, June 9, 2019; that’s just a day earlier than they happened in 2018.
The American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League are once again having their biggest night in one of New York’s most iconic locations: Radio City Music Hall. The ceremony was first held there back in 1997, and that’s been its home fairly steadily since 2000, with the exception of a few years where it took place at the Beacon Theatre.
So when are the 2019 Tonys? The start time is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. Like most awards shows, it will only be broadcast live on the East Coast, so if you live in another time zone you’ll be seeing it on tape delay.
What channel are the Tonys on this year? Well, that one hasn’t changed in a few decades—you’ll be able to watch them on CBS, which has broadcast the ceremony every single year going back to 1978. The first awards were handed out in 1967, so CBS is as much a part of the tradition as any other element.
They’re not going anywhere anytime soon, either; the network has a contractual agreement that will have it broadcasting the Tony Awards through 2026. That makes it easy to find them on TV, and know where and when this year’s winners will be announced.
