How they get here

Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Sooners have an astonishingly good record of 57-4. That record is even more impressive when you consider the fact the Sooners didn’t lose a single conference game this season.

Oklahoma suffered a minor setback against Wisconsin in the Norman regional, but the Sooners bounced back and beat the Badgers to advance on to the Norman super regional. There, the Sooners shut out the Northwestern Wildcats, moving on up the road to Oklahoma City with little issue.

In the Women’s College World Series, Oklahoma beat Alabama, knocked down Oklahoma State, lost in extra innings against the Crimson Tide before eliminating them in the very next game, and has now advanced on to compete for a championship.

OU has been near-perfect all season, crushing teams left and right without any real issue. The only team that truly had no issue beating the Sooners this season was UCLA when the Bruins won 7-1 in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.

It’s yet to be determined whether or not the Bruins can take two of three in what is essentially a home field for the Sooners.

UCLA

The UCLA Bruins, like the Sooners, have won their fair share of games. UCLA has dominated teams all season long, including Oklahoma back in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, and comes into the finals series with a record of 54-6.

The Bruins, for the most part, cruised through their entire season with little issue. The only series that UCLA lost all year was at the end of the regular season against the Arizona Wildcats. Beyond that, no team really found a way to have any consistent success against the Bruins.

After that, the Bruins moved right through the postseason, suffering only one loss against the Missouri Tigers in the Los Angeles regional before pummeling the James Madison Dukes in the Los Angeles super regional.

UCLA then worked right on through all of its foes in Oklahoma City, beating Minnesota, Arizona, and Washington in shut out fashion. The Bruins have cleared every hurdle up to this point, including Oklahoma in the regular season in California.

Can they do it again in front of what will likely be a crowd dominated by Sooner fans?
