Welcome to this Daily Fantasy Golf piece from FantasyCPR.com. Here you will find players to target on FanDuel, for this weeks RBC Canadian Open, taking place at Hamilton Golf and Country Club, in Hamilton, Ontario.

In this article, I will present to you some picks to consider from each price tier for Daily Fantasy Golf on FanDuel. Some plays will be geared toward cash games, and some for GPP tournaments. Some of course will also technically qualify as both. As we break each play down, I will be sure to specify which type of contests I am targeting that player in.

I will give two players to target from $11K up to the top salary, two targets from the $10K-$11K range, and two from the $9-10K range. After that will come my top value plays from the $8-9K range, along with a couple of GPP flyers to consider for tournament play. Last but certainly not least, I will end the article the ever popular sample lineup we like to do here at FantasyCPR.

I used to give a quick recap here from the previous week, but with MLB in full go, I am forced to scrap that portion of this article in an attempt to shorten things up. If you are ever curious as to how things worked out, my picks along with the other top experts in the field are tracked at Daily Overlay.

Daily Fantasy Golf: FanDuel PGA – Top Tier Picks: ($11,000+)

Dustin Johnson – $12,600 – (GPP)

With a very top-heavy field this week with four of the top six players in the world in action, the 2019 RBC Canadian Open will be underway Thursday morning. Last years champion Dustin Johnson is my top play this week, as even though we are at a different course this year, this is still his domain. He always seems to play well in Canada, and there is little doubt that even with the U.S. Open next week, we will still see maximum effort here from DJ.

The price is up there, and while there are ways to make it work in cash, I just did not feel 100% comfortable with the rest of my lineup. The mid-tier is loaded with guys who should all top-20 this week, and a balanced lineup is working out to be the way to go for me. I will still have plenty of Johnson in GPP play, and while a cash fade seems a little unnecessary, I just do not much safe value other than a couple of very limited spots.

Matt Kuchar – $11,300 – (Cash)

I don’t know what on earth happened to Kuch last week, but his rare missed cut last week at the Memorial after his meltdown burned quite a few people last week in the DFS world. I personally was overweight on Kuchar at 60% here on FanDuel, so that sort of killed my week. However, if you have played DFS long enough you know you have to forget about last week, and remember to go right back to these guys.

I think this burn was worse for me than what Paul Casey’s missed cut did at the Masters, and even then I did not want to go right back to Casey. With this course being another short plodders course, Kuchar shapes up to be in contention once again, despite what happened last week.

Learning from my mistake with Casey, I am going right back to Kuchar to anchor my cash team once again. The fact that he missed the cut at a course he had pretty dominant history at last week in Muirfield Village is slightly concerning, but I cannot let one small blip steer me off a great play. I think he was rattled after not getting the divot ruling to go his way, and he never recovered. With the way he has played all year up to that point, I fully expect a solid bounce back.

Daily Fantasy Golf: FanDuel PGA – Mid Tier Picks ($10,000-$11,000)

Scott Piercy – $10,500 – (Cash)

With not really knowing what to expect from the high-priced guys at the top this week, well other than DJ for me, I really like the veteran Scott Piercy to stay hot. The salary seems a bit high, but I think this is another week where you have to throw that out the window.

When you really break it down, there are easily five-to-six golfers in this tier that fit the plodder mold I am after this week, and the way Hamilton Golf Club is set up. Instead of forcing Johnson in my cash lineup with a bunch of guys I don’t trust, I would rather bump down a bit to get at least three or four guys here in this range.

Not only is Piercy on fire coming in off a T-19 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, he happened to win the 2012 RBC Canadian Open the last time it was held here at Hamilton. He has not missed a cut since the Honda Classic, and has finished in the top 20 of three of his last four. Piercy will likely be a very popular play in all formats this week.

Jim Furyk – $10,100 – (Cash)

Aside from DJ at the top who I am mostly targeting for his overall game, give me all the veteran plodders this week. Nobody fits the mold in that sense really better than Furyk, and even though I was shocked to see him up over $10K this week, I think he is still firmly in play in this field. Furyk had a stretch not long ago of six straight made cuts that included four top-20’s, but that was recently derailed by missed cuts at the RBC Heritage, and the PGA Championship.

Since the rare back-to-back missed cuts, Furyk has responded well his last two times in action. A +3 Sunday at the Charles Schwab Challenge ruined a pretty good shot at a top-ten and led to a T-13 finish, and Furyk was solid last week at the Memorial as well, finishing T-33.

If we really want to take a trip back in time, Furyk is a two time RBC Canadian Open champion, winning back-to-back championships in 2006 and 2007. It was a while ago, but that first win was right here at Hamilton Golf Club for what it is worth. We cannot way too heavily into this however, as he was here in 2012 as well, and missed the cut. Regardless, I say the form and course fit are spot on this week for Furyk, and he will be another cash game lock for me.

Daily Fantasy Golf: FanDuel PGA – Low Tier Picks ($9,000-$10,000)

Jimmy Walker – $9,300 – (Cash)

First of all, this whole range is pretty scary overall if I had to use one word. I see traps, risks, and question marks galore, but one thing I feel pretty good about, is that Jimmy Walker will be around for the weekend once again. It’s not a sexy pick, but about as safe as you can find in this price range. Walker will not make a ton of birdies, but my hope is that won’t make a whole lot of bogeys either.

Walker has missed just one cut in his last eight events, and he comes into the RBC Canadian Open off of his top two finishes in that span. He T-19 in his last action two weeks ago at the Charles Schwab Challenge, and despite not shooting a round better than even par at Bethpage, he was still able to finish T-23. Walker was here at Hamilton in 2012 as well, finishing T-28 at 7-under par.

Joaquin Niemann – $9,000 – (GPP)

A first timer obviously here at Hamilton Golf Club, but the 20-year-old Chilean product Joaquin Niemann made his RBC Canadian Open debut last year at Glen Abbey and held his own, finishing T-37 at 10-under par. I talked about it a little in my PGA Power Rankings article this week, but I like that fact that after a long run on tour, and seemingly in a little funk, Niemann took some time away, played an event in his home country on the PGA Latinoamerica Tour, and grabbed a solo third place.

Niemann has played four events since his return, and has missed just one cut, whichhappened to be at Bethpage and the 101st PGA Championship. He has had back-to-back overall solid weeks, and comes into this week off of a T-27 at the Memorial. This kid is a special talent, and with as much as I write him up and play him, there is a very good chance I will be on him when he finally breaks through and gets that first PGA Tour win. Could this be the week? I doubt it, but he seems to be heading in the right direction once again.

Daily Fantasy Golf: FanDuel PGA – Top Value Picks (Below $9,000)

Nate Lashley – $8,000 – (Cash)

I have to say I scoured this range more intently this week. At first I though there was nothing under $9K at first glance, but upon further review, I found once guy I really think could turn out to be a safe cash play here in Nate Lashley. If you want to play Dustin Johnson and are looking for one guy down here who should absolutely make the weekend, Lashley looks like he could be your guy.

This is not a lock by any means, but $8,000 seems a little cheap. He comps like quite a few guys in the $8,800 – $9,300 range, so logic alone is telling me to plug Lashley in my cash lineup here, and balance it out from there to attack that $10-11K range that I adore this week. He made it to March without missing a cut, and after two MC’s in a row, he has bounced back to see the weekend in three straight. After a T-29 at the Byron Nelson, Lashley struggled on Saturday and Sunday at the Charles Schwab Challenge in his last action two weeks ago, and finished alone in 69th. Nice.
