The 2019 DXC Technology 600 will challenge IndyCar drivers and teams. Here’s what to watch for when the NTT IndyCar Series is at Texas.

The NTT IndyCar Series is racing at night this weekend, as the DXC Technology 600 is IndyCar’s annual Saturday evening event at Texas Motor Speedway. It’s also the end of a very long three-week stint for drivers and teams.

What should IndyCar fans be watching for on Saturday? Let’s break the race down in our DXC Technology 600 preview.

1 thing to know

This is the NTT IndyCar Series’ fourth race in three weeks. That can’t be mentioned enough times, as fans will have to see if fatigue sets in for not only drivers but their pit crews. Just an extra two-tenths of a second on a pit stop could make all the difference in the race off pit road, and decide who gets valuable track position.

3 drivers to watch

  • Scott Dixon: Dixon won last year’s IndyCar race at Texas, and he’s also coming into the Lone Star State with all the momentum, having snagged the victory in the most recent event last weekend (Dual in Detroit Race 2). If he was able to pull off a second consecutive win, or even post a Top 5 here, that would be huge for the Chip Ganassi Racing driver. He’d gain valuable points as he lurks within the Top 5 in the championship standings.
  • Conor Daly: The world was surprised earlier this week when Carlin driver Max Chilton announced he was no longer going to race on ovals for the rest of the 2019 IndyCar season. Conor Daly was hired as his replacement, and that’s great news for the fan favorite, because he drove the wheels off for Andretti Autosport in the Indy 500. But it’ll also be worth seeing how Daly compares to Chilton, because it’s going to be very odd not seeing Max in the car.
  • Ryan Hunter-Reay: Does anyone else feel like RHR is due for something big? Hunter-Reay is one of the series’ most consistent drivers, and he’s been pretty competitive through most of the season, but the chips have yet to fall his way for a race win. It’s hard to imagine him being winless for long, so Texas could be that opportunity.
