Kevin Durant practiced and is now questionable for Game 5

Kevin Durant is officially questionable, and so the Golden State Warriors now have the option to play their ace in the hole.

The Golden State Warriors need help at the moment and it might arrive in the form of Kevin Durant.

They have informed the world that the small forward is questionable for Game 5 of the NBA Finals, and it might be the only move that can turn around this series for the defending champions.

On Sunday, Durant practiced for the first time since his calf injury. It should be interesting to see what happens here. If they play him, then will they start him? If they start him, then will they play him closer to 30 or 40 minutes? Those are questions that imply the possibility of risk, and they also offer the road to caution. What path will Warriors coach Steve Kerr choose? Only time will tell.

Kerr said that they would gauge whether or not Durant would play based on how practice went today. Something tells me though that the savvy head coach isn’t telling the public his plans because he wants to keep the Toronto Raptors off balance. Kawhi Leonard doesn’t seem like the type of dude to be rattled by that kind of strategy, though, and it will be on Durant to stop “The Claw” from dominating one of the last three games of this series.

The Warriors seem quite optimistic that Durant could return and be the key to reversing a 3-1 series deficit.

“He will be very welcome, I’ll say that much,” shooting guard Thompson said to ESPN. “I think it’s pretty easy to realize we obviously miss him out there, and he’s propelled us to two championships in the last two years. So it would be pretty storybook if he could come back and help us do the same.”

The Warriors have always played best with their backs up against the wall. They are certainly in that position right now, and they have come back from 3-1 in a series before. The main issue for them is that the last time it happened, “The Slim Reaper” was on the other team.
