Fantasy Football: Tight end PPR redraft rankings
By Kevin Scott
Tier 7
Jordan Reed, Redskins
Kyle Rudolph, Vikings
Jack Doyle, Colts
Jason Witten, Cowboys
Greg Olsen, Panthers
This could be termed the old-man tier. Kyle Rudolph is the only player who has not faced significant injuries that have threatened his career, and he turns 30 this season. The others have all faced nagging and potentially career-ending injuries and are a huge risk this season. However, if they stayed healthy they could be very effective for your fantasy team.
It’s a roll of the dice, and might be smart to attach a player from this tier to a player in tiers three and four, if you end up with one of those high-variance players. Then you’ll hopefully hit on one or the other.
Tier 8
Jace Sternberger, Packers
Irv Smith, Jr., Vikings
Tyler Eifert, Bengals
C.J. Uzomah, Bengals
Hayden Hurst, Ravens
Dawson Knox, Bills
Gerald Everett, Rams
This tier includes more rookies and young players who have shown flashes. Most likely none of the players in this tier are going to blow up and become a top 10 fantasy tight end, but depending on how things shake out any of them could become solid contributors that you plug in as starters during the season.
Tier 9
Ricky Seals-Jones, Cardinals
Cameron Brate, Bucs
Benjamin Watson, Patriots
Jonnu Smith, Titans
Foster Moreau, Raiders
This final tier includes only dart throws. I do not expect any of these players to be owned much in fantasy leagues, but if the starter in front of them got hurt, or they made big improvements over the offseason, there is a chance for any of them to become relevant. They are names to monitor.
