The Kansas Jayhawks picked up another huge piece for the upcoming season, landing a commitment from former Iowa guard Isaiah Moss to bolster their perimeter shooting.

For a while back in April, the Kansas Jayhawks looked like they would be in trouble entering the season. Kansas saw a lot of players declare for the NBA Draft and Bill Self didn’t land a top-50 recruit, meaning there was a real chance of a down year in Lawrence.

Things started to change quickly, however, as Udoka Azubuike decided to stay in school and Devon Dotson pulled his name out of the draft last week. Kansas picked up another huge commitment today when former Iowa guard Isaiah Moss announced his intention to enroll as a graduate transfer.

The news comes just a week after Moss backed out of a commitment to Arkansas, where he had originally planned to finish his college career. Moss was a solid scorer for Iowa last season, averaging 9.2 points per game and knocking down 42.1 percent of his three-point attempts.

That latter figure is key for Kansas, which struggled mightily from beyond the arc last season after Lagerald Vick left the program at midseason. Moss gives the Jayhawks some much-needed perimeter shooting, a big deal with the three-point line getting pushed back as part of an effort to improve offensive spacing.

The scary thing for the rest of the Big 12 is that Kansas may not be done adding just yet. The Jayhawks remain in the mix for former Michigan recruit Jalen Wilson, who decided to re-open his recruitment after John Beilein left the Wolverines last month. Wilson is reportedly deciding between four schools, with Kansas and North Carolina topping the list, but if he comes to Lawrence it would give Self that missing top-50 recruit.

Securing that commitment would complete Kansas’ roster, possibly putting them in position to claim the top spot in pre-season polls, and definitely making them the favorites to win the Big 12.
