The season 4 premiere of FX’s quirky comedy Baskets returns June 13. Here’s all you need to know to watch, which you should do just for Louis Anderson.

The FX comedy Baskets is a weird show. You either get it or you don’t. I happen to love it, but that’s mostly because it features the best character on television, Christine Baskets, played with loving perfection by Louis Anderson.

The comedian has stolen the limelight of the show, and there’s a reason Anderson won an Emmy as Best Supporting actor for his brilliantly, touching portrayal. Truly, Mama Baskets is a gift of a role. I would love for this show to go on in perpetuity just for the opportunity to witness Anderson continue to bring such rich humanity to the character. He makes Christine so richly nuanced, and just when you’re emotionally invested in the character, he’ll throw in a line that makes you laugh out loud. The role is a dream opportunity for the 66-year-old actor.

For the fans who are bent on keeping this niche show going, Anderson’s role has become a beloved critical darling. The inspiration for the fabulous Christine Baskets came straight from the women in Anderson’s family. He even wrote a book about his mother — who is the main inspiration for Christine — and you can seen him talk about her influence here.

Baskets also stars Zach Galifianakis (who also co-created it), who plays the twin sons of Christine Baskets, Chip and Dale (their names together are an intentional joke on the series). The show really centers around Chip, who has been trying to work at his dream job, a clown, after returning back home to Bakersfield after studying at the top clowning school in Paris, the Académie de Clown Française. His twin, Dale, started out as the head of Baskets Career College, a vocational school. Chip’s hilariously deadpan friend Martha (played by Martha Kelly) rounds out this group of sad sacks.
