Rejoice, Texas A&M fans! The team has announced that it will expand alcohol sales at Kyle Field starting next season.
Texas A&M Aggie fans, today is a day to celebrate.
Not just because there’s an outside chance the Aggies could be good next year, but also the fact that the school will expand alcohol sales to Kyle Field starting next season.
The school announced that it will expand the purchase of beer and wine to all those who attend Aggies games next season. The selection will be quite robust, with the school selling both domestic and imported beer, and a nice selection of wine for those who are a bit over beer.
“This is another way we are enhancing the amenities at Kyle FIeld,” R.C. Slocum, interim athletic director at Texas A&M said in a statement.
Kyle Field was already selling alcohol, but it was only available to the premium areas of the stadium. With this latest move, ever one, from the premium seats to the student section, will have access to the suds.
The reason Texas A&M can expand its alcohol sales is thanks to a change in the bylaws of the SEC in May. Previously, the conference restricted alcohol sales to those with premium seats, but then they made a change, stating that member schools could expand their alcohol sales to general admission.
A lot of schools didn’t jump on the alcohol bandwagon. For example, Mississippi State and Ole Miss declined thanks to state laws, and Alabama and Auburn have politely declined as well, though, in the latter’s defense, I could see why alcohol would be a bad thing for those Iron Bowl games.
Nevertheless, Texas A&M threw caution to the wind, and told their fans to drink up, and cheer on their Aggies for the 2019 season.
