Bayer Leverkusen CB Jonathan Tah

Bayer Leverkusen finished in fourth place and qualified for the Champions League last season, and center back Jonathan Tah was a vital part of their success. It seemed like Tah was the glue holding Bayer’s defense together, as manager Peter Bosz loves to focus on attack to the detriment of providing cover for his defenders.

An extremely intelligent defender who is unbeatable in the air, Tah has a world of club and international experience despite only being 23. On paper, he looks like a perfect fit for Bayern Munich stylistically, as he’s a safe passer and constantly covered up the gaps in Leverkusen’s defense. Tah is one of the best at the position at defending counter attacks, which could be especially valuable to Bayern based on what they’re most vulnerable to as a team.

However, because Leverkusen need to be competitive in Europe next year and rely on Tah to hold their defense together, they probably aren’t interested in selling Tah until at least next summer. Bayern could tempt Rudi Voller by giving Bayer an offer they can’t refuse for the Germany U21 captain, which may be a price of at least 40 million euros.

Here's how Hummels helps Dortmund. dark. Next

Tah is one of the most underrated center backs in the world, and he spends most of his time making crisp passes in Leverkusen’s build up or putting out fires defensively. At Bayern, he could get more recognition for his world-class ability, and his passing and football IQ would make him a dream signing for Germany’s richest club. He could develop into a club leader for Bayern, and they could use a person with his character to join their back four.
