Fantasy Football – Top 5 Quarterbacks To Watch For
Welcome ladies and gentlemen! It’s your NFL addict , Freshie, and I’m gearing up for an exciting 2019 season! Football is almost back with about 80 days before week 1. So lets gear up and be ready for week 1 by covering some of the top players at each position . There’s also no such thing as being to early for your draft or just being ready for week 1 on Draftkings or Fanduel! For the next four to five weeks, I’ll be preparing you for the 2019 season so that when it comes to week 1, there is no stressing! Good luck this year and lets dominate the leagues and contests all sites wide!
5. Sam Darnold (New York Jets)
I know we’re kicking this article off with the New York Jets? Not that appealing right? The Jets could be in good hands if they surround their franchise quarterback with the right weapons and tools. Sadly, they lost journeyman, Josh McCown, to retirement. But do not fear Jets fans, they gave Darnold a weapon out of the back field with Le’Veon Bell, who has super fresh legs due to a hold out last season.
Sam Darnold didn’t have the worse 2018 season for his rookie campaign with 17 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He finished the season with a 4-9 record and a Quarterback Rating of 47%. Darnold averaged 220 yards per game with his receivers averaging 12 yards per catch.
The Jets are still giving Darnold the same wide receivers with Quincy Enunwa, Robby Anderson, and Jamison Crowder. But with the addition of Le’Veon Bell, the offense gets a big upgrade which could help take tremendous pressure off of Darnold, opening up for a better season for the sophomore quarterback. Another positive note to take in to account is that the Jets have the 4th easiest schedule this season.

4. Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks)
Money! Money! Monnnnney! The franchise quarterback, Russell Wilson, was paid pretty hefty during the off-season. The Seahawks decided to go all in while shipping out some defensive pieces and running with some not so big name pieces on offense. Will Pete Carroll make the right calls this season though? There are a few factors that will play in to the Seahawks season but it all starts with Russell Wilson.
Wilson lost one of his biggest pieces on offense with Doug Baldwin but Wilson has shown that he can and will do anything to win for his team. The franchise quarterback took his team to a record of 10-6 while throwing 35 touchdowns with just 7 interceptions. Russell averaged 215 yards per game and held a 65% completion rating.
Now we don’t know what to expect of this Seattle Seahawks offense but they did draft DK Metcalf, who has had a positive training camp so far. Wilson loves some Metcalf, who he says can do anything and everything. Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny will be leading the backfield, depending on who can stay healthier then the other. Wilson’s receivers will be David Moore, Tyler Lockett, with the help of Metcalf as the third option. Ed Dickson will be the tight end heading in to the regular season also.
Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks play in a division ran by the Los Angeles Rams and the fight for the bottom will be between the Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers (more on that later). The Seahawks should be able to sneak in at the wild card slot for the NFC if they leave off where they ended last season. Even with the additions and subtraction of certain players on the roster to kick off the 2019 season.

3. Jimmy Garoppolo (San Francisco 49ers)
Now I’m being a true homer here and placing Jimmy Jesus in front of Russell Wilson but honestly, we could put Wilson at number 3. 49er fans hearts and dreams were shattered early last season when Jimmy went down in Week 3 when he tore his ACL against the Kansas City Chiefs. But now there is a huge question mark surrounding the high-priced quarterback heading into the 2019 season. Will he be ready week 1 or will we be seeing some more of Nick Mullens?
We don’t have a huge sample size for Jimmy G as he only played three games and there is some unknown if he’ll be ready for the season opener. Shanahan and the training staff believe he is on schedule though. As the 49ers starting quarterback, Jimmy is 6-2, throwing for 12 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. In the five starts for 2018, he put up a quarterback rating of 90% while completing 67% of his throws.
The San Francisco 49ers did add another weapon for Jimmy G and Nick Mullens, whoever is starting this season with, with Deebo Samuel and Jalen Hurd. But we can’t forget that they have arguably the best tight end in the league, George Kittle. But the one confusing part of this offense is the backfield.
The 49ers have four running-backs that could compete for the starting job or just magically fall into the starting role due to injuries. Jerick McKinnon, Tevin Coleman, Matt Breida, and Raheem Mostert can all contribute, we just have to wait to see who gets the job to help out Jimmy G. Like Coach Shanahan said a couple of weeks ago, maybe the 49ers are getting the injuries out-of-the-way earlier on with the injury of the 2019 number one draft pick, Nick Bosa. Or will they be kept to another injury plagued season?

2. Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers)
We say this man is one of the best to ever play in the NFL and could be in a debate with Joe Montana and Tom Brady. One thing though is the hardware which Aaron Rodgers only has one of so far. The Green Bay Packers finally caved and fired Mike McCarthy before the end of the 2018 season.
Aaron Rodgers claimed there wasn’t enough plays drawn up for his number one receiver, Devante Adams. Where will the Packers go with a new system in place and will it be enough to get Rodgers back to the promise land.
Aaron Rodgers finished his 2018 campaign with a record of 6 wins, 9 losses, and 1 draw. Something that him or most quarterbacks wouldn’t be proud of record wise. He threw for 25 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions off of 62% completion rating. He also put up a quarterback rating of 57%. He averaged his second highest yards per game of his career also with 277.6 yards per game, behind his 281 yards per game in 2013.
The Green Bay Packers will be marching in to the 2019 season with a very similar receiving core and having Jimmy Graham return for another go around. Graham hasn’t been the same tight end since leaving the New Orleans Saints but Rodgers and the new offensive scheme hope to turn that all the way around.
The Packers are surrounded with a couple of question marks heading in to the 2019 season like the rest on this list so far. With a new look coaching staff but a very similar offensive look, we don’t know what or how they will come out to kick week 1 off. This could be another off-season for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers as they try to get adjusted in a new system.

1. Baker Mayfield (Cleveland Browns)
You can obviously put Patrick MaGOAT in this spot also
Did you really think I wasn’t going to fanboy over Baker Baefield before the season kicks off? If you expected this then we’re probably great friends. But look, you can put Patrick Mahomes in the number one quarterback to watch for this season but the Chiefs subtracted some huge pieces on both sides while the Browns added a couple more pieces to hopefully sniff the playoffs finally. So lets dive in covering my man crush, Baker Mayfield, and a new look Cleveland Browns.

Baker Mayfield came in during Week 3 and never looked back to kick off his rookie campaign. He finished with a record of 6 wins and 7 losses while throwing for 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He finished the year with a quarterback rating of 55%. He also averaged 266 yards per game while the average catch went for 12 yards. Mayfield is also a “versatile” quarterback as he has shown a little bit of his foot work. The man is looking to elevate his game this season while the Browns added a huge receiver to their core.
The Cleveland Browns kicked off their off-season by adding Odell Beckham Jr. in a shocking trade that no one expected to happen. The Browns now have two huge receivers with OBJ and Jarvis Landry while Antonio Callaway makes for a great third option. Also the Browns still have David Njuko who had some bright spots last season.
Another key to their offense and for Baker Mayfield is their backfield which can keep things open for the receivers. While Nick Chubb leads the backfield (for now), the addition of Kareem Hunt, who still has the suspension looming on his season, can be a huge factor. Everyone witnessed what Hunt was doing in the Chiefs offense before his incident. Hunt being suspended for the first 8 games, he will have the second half of the season to contribute to the Browns run at the playoffs.
Baker Mayfield is my top quarterback to watch this season and for good reason. He should put up the stats and give the NFL season some fireworks.
