Week-by-week predictions

Game 1: vs. Middle Tennessee

This is as classic of a tune-up game as you can imagine against a good-not-great Middle Tennessee team. The Blue Raiders don’t have the horses to keep pace with the Wolverines in Ann Arbor.

Result: Win

Game 2: vs. Army

This will be an interesting test for Michigan given the turnover on the defensive side of the ball. They should be able to get the win, though, based on overwhelmingly superior talent.

Result: Win

Game 3: at Wisconsin

We’re going to know early in the season if Michigan football can get over the hump, or at least have an indication, thanks to this matchup. Wisconsin will give the Wolverines all they can handle but the Maize and Blue will prevail.

Result: Win

Game 4: vs. Rutgers

It’s Rutgers against a top-tier Big Ten opponent. That rarely — if ever — ends well for the Scarlet Knights.

Result: Win

Game 5: vs. Iowa

A matchup against the Hawkeyes is never an easy thing and this one could get ugly. However, the explosiveness of the Wolverines should push them through to 5-0.

Result: Win

Game 6: at Illinois

Brandon Peters is now transferring to Illinois but that won’t help the Fighting Illini get the win here.

Result: Win

Game 7: at Penn State

Even though Harbaugh and co. have to travel to Happy Valley, this Penn State team should have their share of struggles in 2019 and this game will be among them.

Result: Win

Game 8: vs. Notre Dame

This is a big one for Michigan football as it could be a season-defining moment in Ann Arbor. While Notre Dame should be quite good, the Wolverines prevail in a close one at home.

Result: Win

Game 9: at Maryland

We’ve seen Maryland be quite feisty in spurts in recent years and this could be a trap game for Michigan. Even still, the talent in Ann Arbor should be too strong

Result: Win

Game 10: vs. Michigan State

Always a tough game for the Wolverines, their rivals from East Lansing should present a tough challenge. In the Big House, however, Harbaugh’s team should pull out a crucial victory late in the year.

Result: Win

Game 11: at Indiana

There’s always the chance that Michigan could be looking ahead to Ohio State but that shouldn’t be much of a concern against the Hoosiers.

Result: Win

Game 12: vs. Ohio State

With a perfect season on the line, this would be the perfect time for Michigan to lose again to Ohio State. However, I’m all-in on this being the year and, with that, the Wolverines top the rival Buckeyes to likely earn a trip to the College Football Playoff.

Result: Win

Final Record: 12-0 (8-0 in Big Ten)
