Fantasy Baseball 2019 Week 12 Weekend Waiver Adds
By Bill Pivetz
With Week 12 coming to a close, here are some players to add off the waiver wire to your fantasy baseball team so you can end the week with a win.
The fantasy baseball season is flying by. Week 12 is almost over, bringing us the halfway point (depending on your league’s settings). Every week counts as we get closer to the playoffs. If you are close to winning your Week 12 matchup, you may want to add one of these players to help.
When scrolling through the waiver wire, you’re not looking for someone to win you every week for the rest of the season. You should be looking for a player that can help you for the next couple of weeks. If they could help all season, they’d probably be owned in more leagues.
Add these players, extract whatever fantasy baseball value they have and then cut them. Just be careful if your league has an at-bat, innings or transaction limit or if you use FAAB. But, if you need to win now then win now. Worry about those limits later in the season.

This waiver wire list will contain two hitters, a starting pitcher and a relief pitcher. A little bit of everything for fantasy owners.
Oscar Mercado, CLE
Mercado got the call up on May 14 and has been a solid addition to the Indians lineup since then. He has a .316 average with four home runs, 13 RBI, 26 runs and six steals.
Mercado is on a seven-game hit streak, hitting .416, a home run, five RBI and stealing four bases in that span. He’s spent most of the last four weeks hitting second for the Indians, with Francisco Lindor and Carlos Santana between him.
The Indians haven’t performed like the World Series contender we thought they could be but Mercado has been a welcomed addition to this bleak offense. With power and speed, he needs to be owned in more leagues.
Jorge Soler, KC
I’ve mentioned Soler as a waiver add earlier in the season. Some fantasy owners listen but he’s still available in 60 percent of ESPN leagues.
For the month of June, Soler has a .270 average with six home runs, 13 RBI and 11 runs scored. If you are looking for just power, Soler is the guy to own.
He’s locked in the middle of the Royals batting order, slotted anywhere between fourth and sixth. Soler has some lineup protection with Alex Gordon in front of him (didn’t think I’d be saying that in 2019). Though, the injury to Adalberto Mondesi is not ideal.
Jordan Yamamoto, MIA
The Marlins called Yamamoto up a couple of weeks ago and has looked great in his first two starts. He’s combined for 14.0 innings, five hits, four walks, 12 strikeouts, a 0.00 ERA and 0.64 WHIP. Both starts came against the Cardinals.
With Pablo Lopez on the IL, Yamamoto will have a spot in the rotation for at least the next couple of weeks. He will make his next start against the Phillies on June 23. I talked about how bad their offense is performing here.
He’s 2-0 and could get his third career win in this start.
Ian Kennedy, KC
The Royals are one of the worst teams in the league this season. Yet, Kennedy continues to rack up saves. He’s recorded a save in his last six appearances and has allowed just one run in that span.
Kennedy has four hits, one walk and eight strikeouts in his last 5.1 innings. His ratios have been good enough that he’s worth using as your third or fourth relief pitcher.
The Royals have three games left against the Twins before taking on the Indians. The latter series could see Kennedy get a couple of saves.
The four players here have performed well over the last couple of weeks. Things look good for them to continue their hot streaks and provide your fantasy baseball team with a little bit of help.
