NBA Draft 2019: 5 best undrafted players
5. Louis King, Wing, Oregon
Louis King is a versatile forward capable of playing at a 70th percentile level as a shooter and a defender. He also is a decent tough shot maker. While his season averages are deflated by a knee injury suffered in high school that led to him both missing the beginning of the season and returning in a rusty fashion once he was able to play, he should be more than capable of playing a reduced role relative to his college days if that’s all that he can find his way into in the immediate.
But more than that, King just finished his freshman year. While he is an older freshman, having turned 20 in April, he’s still a very young prospect, and that should absolutely give him an edge on some of the older players that were significantly worse than him at the college level. In a draft where there was not much upside to be had at any level, much less in the late second round, it makes absolutely no sense that a player who has the tough shot-making and physical tools to be an eventual starter slipped by a series of older guys unlikely to ever make an impact in the league. But the loss of those teams will be another’s gain and given a chance to make an impact in the league, King should be effective.
