The Nebraska football program is harboring high hopes for Scott Frostās second season but will those hopes turn into reality for the Cornhuskers?
When the Nebraska Cornhuskers hired one of their own in former quarterback Scott Frost, who they poached from UCF after he dramatically turned around their program, the hope was that he could do the same for Nebraska football. His first season back in Lincoln, however, did not yield immediate results.
The Huskers lost their first six games of the 2018 season amidst injuries and generally underwhelming performance. Frostās team, however, turned things around midseason and finished the year by going 4-2 over their final six contests, including a narrow loss to Ohio State in a titanic upset bid. Now theyāre looking to carry that momentum into the 2019 season.
Leading the way for Frostās team will be quarterback Adrian Martinez who showed real promise last season and has continued to draw rave reviews from throughout the program. Though Martinez and the offense lost Stanley Morgan Jr. to the NFL Draft, JD Spielman appears primed to come in and be the No. 1 guy. The offense would be further helped by running back Maurice Washington as well but his eligibility remains in question at this point.
A more experienced defense for Nebraska, a group led by Darrion Daniels and Mohamed Barry, should take a big step forward from a lackluster overall effort last season. That would go a long way in helping the Cornhuskers become a more consistent threat overall and in the Big Ten.
With this being the second season under Frost, the hopes and expecations are high for the Cornhuskers, particularly given the fact that their schedule isnāt all that daunting. With that in mind, letās go through the entire 2019 Nebraska football schedule and predict how each game will turn out for this team.
