As mentioned, this recruiting race for Johnny Wilson could come down to Oregon and Washington in the Pac-12. Taking a five-star recruit from the reach of a rival is a great way to begin the shift of the balance of power.
Oregon is hot after Wilson and many believe that they are the favorites to land him in 2020. His size isnāt the only thing that makes him so appealing. Heās also incredibly tough and loves to take on contact.
His hands are good and heās got enough speed to get some separation as well. Wilson is going to hear his name called plenty on third down and go-for-it situations on fourth down.
Simply put, this is the must-land recruit for the Ducks. A player of Wilsonās caliber is going to command the attention of every defensive coordinator week in and week out. The best defensive back will be matched up on him.
That will allow the other weapons in the Oregon offense to get free should he suit up for the Ducks. It will be interesting to see if he does get converted to a tight end simply because of his size.
He would be a matchup problem for linebackers and slower safeties. Mario Cristobal and Marcus Arroyo will have plenty of fun game planning around a player like Wilson.
