The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have done a great job of developing talent in the trenches. The tackle position has been one they have produced a great deal of talent from in recent memory, including first round picks.
The success of Mike McGlinchey and Ronnie Stanley has proven that if a top tackle recruit finds his way to South Bend, he might just end up going day one in the draft. Of course, it canāt be ignored that guard Quenton Nelson came through the same pipeline.
Therefore, the Irish need to look ahead to their next great tackle. Andrew Gentry is the sixth-ranked offensive tackle available in this yearās upcoming class and is yet another monster in the making.
At 6ā8ā³ and 310 pounds, Gentry has tremendous size and is going to be a bookend on Saturdayās. Gentry moves well given his giant nature and fits the mold of what the Irish are looking for.
He visited Notre Dame back in April and has offers from elite programs around the country. Given Notre Dameās recent success with the tackle position, constantly having a top-tier talent at the spot is an absolute must.
