Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks: June 28th, 2019

Tonight’s Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks slate features 14 games with, Los Angeles Dodgers (7.3), Milwaukee (5.9), Washington (5.8), and Los Angeles Angels (5.5), holding the best projected team totals. With a handful of high-priced pitchers available, finding value will be imperative for success.
We’ll be aiming to highlight MLB DFS picks from the perspective of batted ball data, batter splits, line movement, and stolen base upside.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks: Standout Batted Ball Stats

Ryan McMahon – DK $2900, FD $2800

Ryan McMahon was in a prime, “buy low” spot last night, and paid off with a home run. Given the pricing methods, last nights performance doesn’t affect tonight’s price and he’ll again be in another, “buy low” spot. McMahon was struggling at the dish before last nights game, but his batted ball stats would indicate that he was on the bad side of variance. In the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 25 feet, his hard hit percentage is down 6%, and his exit velocity is up 1 MPH, over his yearly averages. Combine this with his price drop, and he’ll make for an excellent play on DraftKings tonight.

Batter Splits

Joc Pederson – DK $5600, FD $4000

If you have the extra salary room and like to target batters in positive splits, consider Joc Pederson tonight. Pederson should benefit immensely from facing the righty, Antonio Senzatela. Pederson is significantly better against right handed pitching, with a .363 wOBA split (.124 better than when facing a lefty) and a .304 ISO split (.167 better than when facing a lefty).

Line Movement

Los Angeles will stay out in Colorado tonight, as they again face the Rockies in a game in which the Dodgers opened as -200 favorites. The line has seen a bit of movement towards Colorado, but nothing significant as of now. The total on the other hand has skyrocketed. It opened at a juiced 11, at some shops, and is now up to 12.5 runs.

The largest total on the slate having that much most movement is extremely important for DFS tonight. Coors field obviously has its altitude advantages every night, but the increase in temperature may also play a role in this total rising. It’s expected to be in the mid 90’s for tonight’s game. Both starters do a great job limiting the number of fly balls batted, however, given the conditions and two overworked bullpens, I think it may be wise to eat the chalk with this game tonight.

Christian Yelich – DK $5900, FD $4600

Christian Yelich and other Brewers’ base runners may have a bit of upside on the base paths, as they face the righty, Chris Archer. Archer has allowed five stolen bases over the course of 69.2 innings pitched this season. Yelich has stolen 17 bases this season, ranking him fifth, for most stolen bases in the majors.
