1. John Elway will leave the Broncos

Given all that Elway accomplished on the field during his Broncos career, it’s really difficult to imagine the organization forcing him out. That doesn’t mean he won’t choose to walk away on his own. If Denver doesn’t make the postseason in 2019, look for Elway to graciously step aside.

In some ways that might be the best thing that can happen to the organization. Elway was a great player, but he’s been a pretty average executive. Acquiring Peyton Manning wasn’t exactly a tough front office decision. That’s really the only good choice Elway has made at quarterback.

If the former Hall of Fame signal caller can’t effectively evaluate prospects at his old position, how can he be expected to do so at other spots on the field? It’s fair to point out that scouting isn’t his only job, but it is an integral part of his current duties.

Next. Broncos are making an early mistake with Drew Lock. dark

Perhaps this team fill find a way to earn an unlikely playoff berth this season, but another five or six win season seems much more likely. If that happens, Elway is going to wave the white flag. It will be a relatively sad ending for the Broncos legend, but at least he has multiple Super Bowls to his credit.
