Minnesota Timberwolves

PG – Sam Cassell

There weren’t many high moments during most of the Minnesota Timberwolves’ time in the NBA but when the team brought Sam Cassell on board they made a run to the Western Conference Finals in 2004. Cassell was the definition of a scoring guard for most of his time in the NBA but by the time he got to Minnesota, he was much more of an all-around player. With Kevin Garnett operating as the best player, it allowed for Cassell to operate under the radar.

SG – Isaiah Rider

Isaiah Rider was the best player in franchise history prior to the team drafting Kevin Garnett. Rider was a very athletic player who would not be shy about putting his athletic abilities on display for all to see. Rider wasn’t the most efficient of scorers but he still was able to put the ball in the hoop when called upon by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

SF – Wally Szczerbiak

Wally Szczerbiak, the man with the impossible-to-pronounce last name, joined the team after staring at mid-major Miami of Ohio. Szczerbiak was a player who could score at all three levels and create his own shot when needed. Pairing with Garnett and then Cassell, Szczerbiak was a big part of Minnesota making its deepest run in postseason history in 2004.

PF – Kevin Garnett

Kevin Garnett has one of the best careers in NBA history. Most of that time was spent with the Minnesota Timberwolves. In Minnesota, Garnett’s singular talent wasn’t enough to constantly take them to great heights but his effort and work did not go unnoticed. Garnett could take over the game on offense or defense.

C – Karl-Anthony Towns

With the first pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves were finally able to replace the star power they had let go when they traded Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics. In his four seasons, Towns has showcased the ability to dominate from inside the paint and from behind the arc. Towns has not yet reached his prime and the best of his career is yet to come. Hopefully this time the Timberwolves surround him with good enough talent earlier in his career than they were able to with KG.
