The United States take on host nation France on Friday, June 28 at the Parc des Princes in Paris. Here’s what you need to know before tuning in.

In a game that could very well have been a final, the United States returns to Paris on Friday to take on host nation France in the quarterfinals of the Women’s World Cup.

The highly-anticipated match at the Parc des Princes will feature arguably two of the best teams at this tournament. Both teams come into the quarterfinals coming off some trouble in the Round of 16.

The U.S. and France have also both learned that they don’t need to be perfect in order to win this World Cup, although there will be little room for error on Friday in this do-or-die situation. This has been the game many had predicted would happen back when the draw was announced this past December.

France, led by Amandine Henry, defeated Brazil 2-1 in extra time on Sunday. The U.S., led by Alex Morgan, got past Spain by the same scoreline the following day. U.S. goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher and the defense was suspect during the Spain game, which could be a determining factor in this matchup.

U.S. captain Megan Rapinoe, who scored both goals in the Spain win, said of the upcoming France match: “Hopefully it will be a complete spectacle. Just an absolute media circus, I hope it’s huge and crazy, that’s what it should be. This is the best game, it’s what everybody wanted, we want it, they’re up for it, all the fans are up for it.”
