Stephen Curry will join Golden State Warriors GM Bob Myers in his visit to New York to pitch to Kevin Durant about re-upping with the Warriors.
The Golden State Warriors are pulling out all the stops to try to convince Kevin Durant to stay in the Bay Area.
According to The Athletic‘s Shams Charania, the Warriors will send a delegation that will include general manager Bob Myers and Stephen Curry to New York to pitch to Durant.
This won’t be the first time Curry was involved in free agency talks with Durant. If you may recall, in 2016, Curry was instrumental in convincing Durant to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder and join the Warriors.

That partnership has proven to be valuable for both, with the Warriors making the NBA Finals in all three of Durant’s seasons in Golden State, the Warriors taking home two championships and Durant walking away with Finals MVP for both.
So on the surface, it would be a no-brainer for Durant to re-up with Golden State, but he has a desire to prove that he can carry a team to glory, hence why Durant was more than likely looking to play elsewhere.
Curry, meanwhile, is looking to work the same magic he did three years ago and try to convince that staying in Golden State will be the best move for Durant, not playing in New York or Brooklyn, or even L.A., where reports have surfaced that Durant and Kawhi Leonard are discussing teaming up in Hollywood.
At first, it didn’t seem as if Golden State was in a frantic mode to re-sign Durant, but Curry coming on a recruiting trip is a very telling sign that the Warriors want Durant to be among the players who will play the inaugural season at Chase Center in San Francisco.
Will the second time be a charm? We’ll soon find out.
