Tobias Harris agrees to 5-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers

Just an hour after free agency opened, Tobias Harris agreed to a five-year deal to remain with the Philadelphia 76ers.

In an interesting move, the Philadelphia 76ers have decided to bring back Tobias Harris after they were able to agree to a deal just a little over an hour after free agency opened up. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Harris had re-signed with the 76ers to a five-year deal worth $180 million.

After being traded to the 76ers from the Los Angeles Clippers in the middle of the season, Harris has officially found his new home with the 76ers. The new deal that Harris has just signed will pay him an average of $36 million a year, but it will not include a player option.

Before Harris was traded to the 76ers, he was in the middle of a career season with the Clippers and was averaging 20.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists. In an effort to go all out and try to win an NBA championship, the 76ers acquired Harris’ services. In a team filled with superstars, Harris continued to thrive and he still averaged 18.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists. Even though the 76ers lost to the eventual NBA champions in the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference SemiFinals, it was clear that the 76ers were very interested in bringing Harris back on a long-term deal.

With Harris returning to the 76ers, Philadelphia will be able to keep together one of the most potent lineups in the league. Pairing him with Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid will continue to work for them as they strive to once again be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.
