A weekly recap of the hit YouTube series Being the Elite, featuring the stars of AEW including the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Cody and others.

Being the Elite opens up this week with Kenny Omega addressing a good portion of the AEW roster at Fyter Fest. Clearly still playing off the problems of the Fyre Festival upon which this event was based, Omega explains to everyone that not all of their luggage had arrived and that their accommodations and catering are limited to a first-come, first-served basis.

This sends everyone a mad dash to grab their luggage and get to where they need to be as the show cuts to the 8-bit opening. After that, the Young Bucks are at the airport talking about traveling to Fyter Fest in Daytona Beach. They have all the usual people with them, but also AEW referee Rick Knox who, for some reason, is in full referee gear at the airport.

They question why he’s dressed like that. Knox says they hired him to be their referee and he’s going to do it for them 24/7. Well, we guess if they run into R-Truth at an airport, this storyline on BTE will come in handy.

The Young Bucks make the flight to Daytona Beach and when they land, Matt has a piece of gum. He tries to throw the wrapper away but misses the trash can, and Knox asks him to pick it up. When Matt refuses, he institutes the referee’s five-count to make him comply. It was entertaining, Knox is clearly quite the character on the show and his comedic timing has been on display in the last couple of episodes.

The Bucks are now in the water at Daytona Beach, talking about the last time they were there was for an IMPACT Wrestling pay-per-view against the Motor City Machine Guns. That they stole the show then and are still stealing it now. They say Fyter Fest is tomorrow and hope that Omega is more prepared and hope that he finally watched the documentaries on the failings of the Fyre Festival.

Meanwhile, we head back to the scene from the open of the show with people on a mad dash to secure their spots as they quickly fill up. We go backstage to see Christopher Daniels still holding his lower back, presumably from the attack from Joey Ryan on last week’s episode. Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian show up. Daniels is happy to see them as he was worried they wouldn’t make it. Sky and Kazarian complain about being delayed in the Atlanta airport and talked about how awful it is.

They complain about things for a bit longer until Sky finally gives us what we all wanted, the “worst town” bit, burying Daytona Beach and NASCAR in the process. It was great, the “worst town” bits never get old. The three of these guys are perfect together, and their chemistry is always evident when they’re together on screen.

We go to the bathroom where Matt and Nick once again make fun of the Cody and Dustin spot from Double or Nothing. Brandon Cutler watches them from around the corner and comments that he should have just gone to NXT.

Back at the venue for Fyter Fest, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus desperately try to find their own locker room. They get kicked out of SCU’s locker room and end up fighting with Private Party in the bathroom.

After that silliness, we get a behind-the-scenes look at the Young Bucks’ and Omega’s Street Fighter-inspired entrance from Fyter Fest. It is acknowledged there that Omega’s gear didn’t come in time which is a shame. It would have been really cool to see his Akuma gear that he had made for the event.

We are then taken to a moment that took place after the triple t=hreat tag team match on the Buy-In, as the Young Bucks give Private Party full-time contracts with AEW. While this was cool it was also pretty surprising as we were under the understanding that they were already under full-time deals. But better late than never. Private Party is an exciting tag team and we see big things coming for them in All Elite Wrestling.

Afterward, they show Brandi watching the women’s triple threat like a normal person. But Cutler shows up and tells her she’s doing it wrong and makes her adjust her body to how they do it on WWE programming instead. She yells “Thanks KD!” which we believe to be a shot at Kevin Dunn, although we aren’t 100 percent certain.

We are then taken to the Librarians, and Peter Avalon is trying to apologize to Leva Bates for costing her the match against Allie. Bates is very upset but Avalon keeps shh’ing her. Eventually, she just growls in frustration and storms off, leaving Avalon alone with his thoughts.

MJF is backstage trying to pay off one of the referees for his fatal four-way match later on in the evening but as he walks away it is revealed to be the referee’s twin brother, who states that MJF is “the worst” before walking away. That was certainly unexpected.

The rest of the show is made up of highlights from Fyter Fest from various camera perspectives featuring Cody, Omega and Jon Moxley. Afterward, we see the Bucks counting up t-shirt inventories and packing stuff away after the show is over. This was basically to show that Matt and Nick haven’t forgotten their roots or where they came from, even after everything they’ve achieved in the last several years.

That wraps up this week’s edition of Being the Elite, which was pretty must a post-Fyter Fest edition episode, but that’s also what we expected it to be. We guess a full blown build to Fight for the Fallen will start to happen next week. But for now what did you think of this week’s episode? Did you have a favorite segment?
