Why isn’t Younger new tonight? Fans of the TV Land original series may have noticed that it’s not on the network’s schedule this week, but there’s a very good reason why Liza and her friends have the week off.
Younger is one of TV Land’s rare originals, and certainly its most popular. The series by Sex & The City creator Darren Star helped put the network on the people’s radar for more than reruns of old sitcoms, so when it’s not airing, there’s a big hole on the schedule.
But the fact that it’s off this week is no big deal. Tomorrow is the Fourth of July, and many TV shows are being pulled off the schedule as a result, even those that don’t air on the actual holiday. That’s because networks assume fans are spending at least part of the week with families, and won’t be watching.
So why isn’t Younger new tonight? That’s because it’s one of those shows getting the involuntary break. Even though it airs on Wednesday, and the holiday is on Thursday, TV Land is saving its next new episode for a week where people don’t have other plans.
There’s a further bit of bad news, too: while most preempted shows at least have a repeat on in their place, this isn’t one of them. The network has taken the series off altogether, and is filling the 10 p.m. hour tonight with reruns of Two and a Half Men.
At least it’s not a long break. Liza (Sutton Foster), Kelsey (Hilary Duff) and company will be back on your TV screens next Wednesday, July 10 at their regular time!
