Madden 20 gives Daniel Jones a lot of motivation

Daniel Jones was a punch line for many fans after the 2019 NFL Draft, and his rating in Madden 20 isn’t going to help things for the Giants quarterback.

The Giants took a lot of flack from spending a first round pick on Daniel Jones, but the organization is steadfast in their belief that he is their quarterback of the future. If you believe in Madden 20 ratings, the former Duke signal caller has a very long way to go.

Of course, the popular video game’s ratings need to be taken with a grain of salt, but the fact that Jones only earned an overall rating of 63 should sting the rookie quarterback. That places him sixth among rookies in the game. Most surprisingly, it puts him one point behind Tyree Jackson who signed with the Bills after going undrafted.

All Jones can really do now is use the video game’s slight as motivation. If he is going to be successful in New York, he’ll need to develop really tough skin. If he’s actually worried about his rating in a video game then he’s got no chance to stand up to the pressure of media scrutiny in the City.

The real test for Jones will come when the preseason actually begins. New York fans are going to watch his battle with returning starter Eli Manning very closely as the regular season nears. It’s highly unlikely that Jones can unseat the two-time Super Bowl champion, but the Giants front office would at least like to see an interesting competition. If Jones can find a way to push Manning this season, it will go a long way towards quelling fears about his ability to pilot the offense in the future.

If that happens, Madden game officials are going to owe Jones a massive apology, and perhaps a mid-season upgrade. Giants fans will definitely be hoping that their rookie quarterback proves the doubters wrong. If he doesn’t, it could mean their favorite team is still miles away from contention.
