A five-count rundown from this week’s episode of WWE NXT, keeping you up-to-date on the latest happenings in the black and yellow brand.

Sometimes NXT doesn’t go a full hour on the WWE Network, but that wasn’t the case this week. This show used up all 60 minutes of its allotted time and made the most of it. A lot went down on the show this week as the road to NXT TakeOver: Toronto slowly but surely starts to take shape.

So let’s not waste any more time; this is the NXT 5 Count!

1. Mia Yim continues her winning streak

The black and gold brand kicked off the show this week with action in the women’s division as Aliyah, accompanied by Vanessa Borne, went one-on-one with Mia Yim, who you may recall had a fantastic video package on NXT television two weeks ago that for some reason WWE chose not to acknowledge on any of their social media platforms.

Beyond that, it doesn’t seem to be taking any steam out of the Blasian Baddie’s push as she and Aliyah had a good solid match to open up the show. Despite constant interference from Borne, Aliyah was unable to secure a victory against the HBIC of NXT.

The match came to a close when Yim hit Aliyah with her finishing move, Protect Ya Neck, to secure the victory. Yim wasn’t done making a statement however, as she took out Borne as well before going up to the commentators’ table after the match to make her intentions known that she would be the next in line to challenge for Shayna Baszler’s NXT Women’s Championship.

As this is where Baszler normally delivers her messages, Yim decided she was going to do hers there as well. She said she wants Baszler’s championship. She said Baszler’s “days are numbered” and she’s coming for the title. It was a solid way to kick off NXT this week. We assume this match will end up happening at NXT TakeOver: Toronto.
