Adrian Peterson: Fantasy Football Sleeper in 2019

Adrian Peterson: 2019 Outlook
2019 Outlook: Heading into 2019, I don’t understand why the entire fantasy community is sleeping on this legend. The Redskins offense features Peterson along guys like Josh Doctson, Paul Richardson, Trey Quinn. With a supporting cast like that and 3 running backs who can’t stay healthy, what’s going to stop Adrian Peterson from balling out?
The defense will keep games closer by adding Landon Collins and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in free agency, as well as adding Montez Sweat in the NFL draft. Closer games always benefit the running backs because the game scripts won’t have to favor the passing game. Taking it one step farther, check out this!
Season Finishes Where Peterson Played 12+ Games:
2018- RB15
2015- RB2
2013- RB9
2012- RB1
2011- RB11
2010- RB5
2009- RB2
I’m fully aware that most of this sample size includes his dominant years with the Vikings but it clearly shows that when he plays 12+ games, Peterson is going to be fantasy relevant. 7 years in his career where he played 12+ games, he finished as a top-15 fantasy RB in all of those seasons. After all of those juicy stats, let’s get to the good part by checking out Peterson’s ADP in fantasy football right now.
2019 ADP: When I check the current ADP and notice that Adrian Peterson is being drafted as the RB46, I start to question humanity. This guy is currently the only healthy running back on the Washington Redskins, he finished as the RB15 last year in the same offense, history shows that he finishes as a top-15 RB if he plays 12+ games, but the community wants to draft him near guys like Peyton Barber, Dion Lewis, Nyehim Hines, and Devin Singletary. It’s even more shocking to see Derrius Guice’s current ADP have him going in the 5th round, when he might not even be ready for the start of the season.
In conclusion, drafting Peterson in rounds 11-12 where he is going currently is a massive steal. My favorite thing about drafting Peterson is that you don’t even have to spend draft equity on him. Your essentially drafting him as a bench player. With that being said, if he does what I’m expecting, you found the steal of the draft! If he duds, it was a bench spot, it’s not gonna kill you. Nothing is more enticing than getting a potential workhorse running back in the 12th round. Take advantage while you have the chance ladies and gentleman!
